Valentine’s Day Division Practice

You are currently viewing Valentine’s Day Division Practice

Am I right in saying that division is one of the TOUGHEST things to teach in elementary math? Division is one of those topics that requires A LOT of practice, no matter what level of division we’re talking about. I usually work with my students on whole number operations in the beginning of the school year, but we practice it ALL YEAR LONG. However, this can get a little repetitive! That’s why I like to create fun activities to help my students practice–including the Valentine’s Day division resources I share about below.

Valentine’s Day Escape Rooms

If I had to pick one activity to do with students to practice a concept, it would be an escape room. 100 percent. No questions asked. Escape rooms not only give students an opportunity to practice a skill, but there is a ton of buy-in!

This Valentine’s Day division escape room comes with a PRINTABLE and DIGITAL version. Each version has 3 clues for students to solve!

Along with the buy-in, there are also so many ways you can use an escape room in the classroom:

  • Whole group review activity
  • Collaborative group activity
  • Small group practice

Riddle Activities

Don’t have time for an entire escape room or are a little intimidated by them? No worries! You can still add a little pizzazz to your division practice by using a fun riddle instead.

Riddles are a simple way of adding a little extra fun to an assignment, without having to give a ton of extra directions or worrying about your classroom getting out of control!

This Valentine’s Day division riddle set comes with a PRINTABLE and DIGITAL version of 4 fun riddles!

An added bonus is that riddles easily make an assignment self-checking. If students are unable to answer the riddle correctly, they can tell that they had a mistake somewhere and need to go back and fix it.

Some easy ways to use math riddles in the classroom are:

  • Morning work
  • Early finisher work
  • Math centers
