In my real life (aka the few moments I have where I’m not doing “teacher things”) I am NOT into Valentine’s Day. Other than my yearly hoarding of heart-shaped Reeses’, there is no proof that Valentine’s Day exists in my personal life.
But in my classroom, however, it is a completely different story! For some reason, I love all things Valentine’s Day in the classroom!
Now, I do want to stop and point out that I am NOT saying I do anything huge or have a party or anything like that. What I’m saying is that I love to do Valentine’s Day themed learning activities around Valentine’s Day.
Here are some of my favorite Valentine’s Day activities I have used in my classroom!
Escape Rooms
Escape rooms are always a favorite in my classroom! I’ve talked about them before in a previous blog post, but I need to mention them again. Because I love them so much! 🙂
The escape rooms that I create are great because they are so low-prep. All it takes is printing, a little bit of cutting, and they are ready to go! The excitement level in my class is well worth a little printer ink and cutting!
I created a special escape room just for Valentine’s Day this year! I am planning on using it to help review our fraction unit on Valentine’s Day. It’ll not only review our math concept, but it will let the students TALK! Which is what we know they want to do! 😉
My Valentine’s Day Escape Rooms (Help Larry the Llama) are available in 4 versions:
- Identifying and Comparing Fractions (using models & number lines)
- Division (4 digit dividends by 1 digit divisors)
- Adding & Subtracting Fractions (unlike denominators)
- Multiplying & Dividing Fractions
Riddle Worksheets
Riddles are another great way to practice a skill with next to no prep! Instead of completing a few questions from the textbook, why not add a little twist?
Each of my riddle packet sets come with 4 entertaining riddles and a total of 46 questions. These are perfect for morning work, homework, centers, or even sub plans!

Multiplication Mazes
My Multiplication Mazes are actually a FREEBIE! I love mazes because they are essentially self-checking and take no prep!
This freebie is perfect for multiple grade levels because it comes with 4 levels of multiplication:
- 1 digit x 1 digit
- 2 digit x 1 digit
- 2 digit x 2 digit
- 3 digit x 2 digit

Other Fun Ideas
One of the biggest hits in Valentine’s Day history in my classroom was my Valentine’s Day photo booth. We did a mini escape room to review some math concepts that day and, as a prize for escaping, teams got to take a photo in the photo booth.
I bought a table cloth and some decor from the Dollar Tree and a very cheap prop kit from Party City and used my phone to take photos. It cost me about $10, my students loved it, and my students’ parents’ LOVED the photos I posted on our Class Dojo story page!
My final idea is one that I decided to add this year to help with our classroom community! I made this poster (using my favorite KG font) one evening and had it waiting for the students the next day. You could definitely do this quicker than I did!
I put red and pink post-it notes on students’ desks and, for morning work one morning, I had them finish the statement “This year I loved…” Then we shared our favorite activities and it was a nice trip down memory lane! I think I might keep it up for the rest of the year and have students continue to add to it.
